Methodology
How the rankings are made
Where the follower counts come from
Every figure comes from Instagram's official API (Meta), the same number shown on the profile. Data is refreshed in batches twice a day, so no profile has data older than a week. Last sync: 2026-10-23. There are currently 2077 verified profiles.
Who gets into each ranking
Instagram does not publish any list of accounts ordered by followers, let alone by country. So we keep a list of profiles that we check against public rankings (for example Wikipedia's list of the most followed accounts and HypeAuditor's public country rankings). Each ranking shows the 50 most followed profiles on that list.
Country, city and category
- Country: the nationality or country the person is identified with, not where their audience is.
- City: where they live or build their career.
- Category: based on Instagram's professional profile categories.
We assign this data ourselves and it may contain mistakes.
Limitations
- Only professional accounts (creator or business) can be queried. Personal or restricted accounts do not appear.
- People only: we do not include brands, clubs or media.
- We count followers, not their quality: fake followers are not filtered out.
